Canon DSLR EOS 1000D with 18-55mm IS lens

Canon has released the cut down version of the 450D in order to compete with the Olympus, Pentax, Sony and Nikon cameras at the lower end. With its superior CMOS sensor, which is noise-less even at very high ISO settings, the 10Mp 1000d is the best choice as far as photo graphy is concerned. the Price is actually lower than the 400d, but the features are a mix of 450D and 400D, so it makes more sense to buy the 1000D more than the 400D.
The Lens is also the same as the 450D Kit. Its an Image stabalised lens with 3X range, Great to start with.

Current prices are Rs.29,990 for with 2 years Canon India Waranty including vat. @ jjmehta.com

Bombay's worst day

This is probably the worst day Bombay (Not Mumbai) has ever faced. And this day has been brought by us. We the general public are to blame for this shame. Specifically the corruption and the hate politics that is so prevalent in most of India. Right from the 1993 bomb blasts, every terror attack has happened because some people turned a blind to eye to their duty for financial gain. I ask, how is it possible that all these things that are used by the terrorist available to them? If they have been procured locally then someone is making them locally and its either made illegally (like desi guns), or procured illegally (from Ordinance Factories). The illegal units are so common its difficult to believe that the police dont know about them. And someone in the ordianance factory has to be involved for material like grenades and explosive to reach the terrorist.

The other senario is that someone brings guns from outside and explosives are made of generally available materials. such hughe cachement of arms cannot arrive in one shot, its been coming in regularly. Then someone is not watching our borders effectively and if its coming by sea, locals have to know about it. Money changes hands somewhere otherwise its not possible to keep this under wraps. And the money is never enough, so it will keep happening till they themselves don't get hurt.

There is also the question of funding. operation like these require money. That money has to come from somewhere and has to be delivered by someone. Police has a lot of information on Hawala dealers but they dont take action because these guys pay everybody, from politicians to cops.

How did the terrorist get motivated to take such huge risks? They have been misled, and the promoters of hate are responsible for it. just take the example of the Rahul Raj incident. he didn't have a reason other than Raj Thakrey's politics to come and do what he did. he was educated and looking for a job.

What kind of future are these people creating? I'll not be surprised if there is an armed rebellion like they had in Sri lanka for a seperate Telengana state in Andhra. Creating hatred among people is like lighting a forest fire. It will consume you along with the others, you cannot outrun it.

E63 Review available

Mobile Review.com has come with the review of the much awaited smartphone e63. (at least for me) as promised it is pretty much like the E71, except that its focused on functionality and has a bigger battery and 3.5mm headphone jack. This particular piece seems to be a pre production model as there are many "finishing issues" as I put it for which Nokia is always satisfactory. I expect the production version to be better finished.

enjoy

Nokia E63 announced

Nokia has announced a cheaper version of the E71, the E63. they are very similar in size and form, where the E63 uses plastics instead of metal. it will be available in new colours.

The feature list on th E63 is almost identical to the E71, only it looses GPS and gets a smaller camera (2mpx). but the price expected to be in the range of 12k-15k which makes it a great phone to have.

It will probably replace the E61i, as both have very similar specs. though E63 gains over it in terms of overall size, E61i has a much bigger screen. the E63 will be more conventionally sized.

Using Mobile for your Internet Needs

Sometimes we need an internet connection with not a high bandwidth to surf the net at 2 places. If you can justify the charges you can opt for an unlimited GPRS data plan on your mobile for this and carry your internet where ever you go.

Most mobile service providers are offering an unlimited data plan to their customers for Rs.500 to Rs.800 per month to billing customers. You get anywhere between 64 to 256 kbps speeds depending on location, time of day and EDGE coverage. This is cheaper than using a USB EDGE modem usually, and also you can still surf the net on your phone with out a laptop.

Its a good idea to use a phone with a separate charging socket and separate Data socket. this makes sure that you will be simultaneously charge the phone, as the battery dies quickly with a data connection continuously transferring data. Nokia has done a good thing in sticking to the same old charging pin, which frees its data port for more useful applications. Infact in most new Nokia phones use 2.5mm or 3.5mm headphone jack, which leaves the data port only for data, UNLIKE Sony Ericsson.

Choose the provider which gives the most powerful signal where you intend to use the internet. make sure the network is EDGE unabled, which give 6-8 times more bandwidth, and at no extra charge. Of course even your handset needs to be Edge compliant. Sony is notorious for not including EDGE in even their most expensive phones, only now they have started including it. make sure you have a data cable and drivers to connect it to the Laptop.

only problem is that you cannot talk and use the phone at the same time. the phone will pause the data connection to take the call and resume once the call is over. USB data card takes care of this problem better.
